I am just going to give a brief description of the layout of the Music Library in the Ilac and what kind of material they had relating to our chosen topic. The most prominent section is the CD collection. They have a fairly decent stock of Irish traditional music including Sean O'Riada, the Chieftains, Altan, Anuna, Clannad etc. Within this section they have a small amount of space dedicated to learning to play an instrument with books on the topic arranged alphabetically by instrument name. Three listening booths take up the middle of the CD section. The music played in these is controlled behind the desk.
They also have a sizeable book and music sheet collection. Concerning our topic there are books like "The very best of Irish songs and Ballads" volume 1-4, "Irish Melodies" by Thomas Moore, "Ireland Sings" by Dominic Behan, "More Irish Street Ballads" by Colm O'Lochlainn. These are all quite old and consequently very expensive so I'm not sure if they'd suit our needs. Lastly there is a section of music magazines. All of these items are borrowable by the way.
Like I said this is just a description. We don't have to use any of this material but its handy to know whats out there.
